SUBJECT:
ISSUANCE OF STUDIES UTILIZING NPRDS DATA
REFERENCE:
Note to T. Novak from E. Jordan, "Issuance of Studies Utilizing NPRDS Data," February 1, 1988.
The purpose of this memorandum is to document my understanding as to how AE0D',s Trends and Patterns Analysis Program NPRDS based Operating Experience Feedback Reports may be distributed external to NRC. The following position is based on
- 1) the above reference; 2) clarifying discussions with Mark Williams, Branch Chief, TPAB; and 3) confirmation of this position by INP0's Industry and Government Relations Division Staff Assistant (Dennis Fadden) on March 8, 1988.
Position:
In the interest of enhancing safe operations of our licensees, NPRDS based Operating Experience Feedback Peports (which treat the NPRDS unit-specific data as proprietary infonnation) may be issued directly to domestic INP0 members and supplier participants.
These reports will be forwarded based on an INP0 supplied distribution list via a letter containing the following statement:
"This report contains information derived from the Nuclear Plant Reliability Data System (NPRDS) and should retain the INP0 Limited Distribution Copyright."
Per previous discussions with Mr. Fadden (INPO), by copy of this memorandum we have requested INP0's (Angie Howard's) confirmation of this position within 10 days from the date of this memorandum along with a copy of INP0's domestic member and supplier participant distribution list.
This TPAB position will become effective on March 28, 1988.
