ARTICLE XVII - PATENTS, is deleted in its entirety and the following new article is substituted in lieu thereof:
" ARTICLE XVII - PATENTS
"(a ) All relevant information (referred to herein as "the Results")
arising out of and in the course of performing the work try the Contractor under this contract shall be made available to the Nuclear Regulatory Commission in the form of a written report to be sent to the Contracting Officer.
With respect to any patentable invention or new or original design arising wholly out of and in the course of performing the work by the Contractor J

subject to a non-exclusive, irrevocable, royalty-free license to the Contractor.with the right, subject.to sub-clause (3) below, to grant sub-licenses to use the patentable invention or new or original design for any.

design in the United Kingdom and in third countries, subject to a non-exclusive, irrevocable, royalty-free world-wide license to the United States Government, with the right',
subject to sub-clause (3) below, to grant sub-licenses to
.use the patentable invention or new or original design for any purpose.
"(3)
Neither party shall grant-in the territory of the other party a sub-license ~under sub-clause (1) or 'sub-clause (2) above without first consulting the other party.
"(b) Where the Contractor applies for patent or other protection for any such patentable invention or new or original design as referred to in

paragraph (a) above,-the Contractor shall as soon as practicable furnish the Contracting Officer with a copy of the application.and, as soon as convenient thereafter and not -later than nine months after filing the application, the Contractor shall inform the Contracting Officer of the selected foreign countries in which the--said Contractor intends to file corresponding patent applications and the Contracting Officer' shall be entitled at the expense of the United States Govern-ment to file applications, in addit.on to an application in the United States, in countries other than those selected by the Contractor; such applications filed at the expense of the United States Government to be owned by the United States Government subject to a non-exclusive, irrevocable, royalty-free ' license to the Contractor with the right, subject to sub-clause (a)(3) above, to grant sub-licenses to use the patentable invention or new or original design for any purpose."
8.
All other provisions of the contract remain unchanged.
