d' In vour letter of March 11, 1988, you requested clarification on two items which were sutcitted to the !{RC as part of a change to the U!{C-ilP Physical Protection Plan. The clarification is as follows: R36-1 Clarification of statement "(if not individually searched)." Upon Vi1C f4P's implementation of the 100% search requirement for all i-mming personnel, all hand-carried objects will also be s ' S ' to i a ection by electronic apparatus', in ilRC ryulations. An ind',ation by the elec-accordanc.., tronic apparatus that an individual, or a package / object may be carrying or contain firaarms, explosives, or incendiaries, will result in further investigation by security personnel. This investigation may result in the individual being subject to a "hands-on" search and/or the hand-carried package / object being opened and physically inspected. When the contents of any hand-carried package / object cannot be adequately deter-mined through use of electronic apparatus; this may also result in the item being physically inspected, or denied site access. While it is our intent to equip all rifles to be utilized in tactical response tituations with electronic aiming devices to the maximum extent possible, qualifications firing, for the record, will continue only with open, iron sights.
