NRC STAFF MOTION TO EXTEND TIME IN WHICH TO RFSPOND TO STATE OF VERMONT'S PETITION TO INTERVENE l.
INTRODUCTION On January 26, 1988, the Nuclear Regulatory Commission published in the Federal Register a notice of opportunity for prior hearing on a proposed amendment to the Vermont Yankee Nuclear Power Station's 11-cense to revise survelliance frequency requirements for logic system functional testing and calibration from once every six months to once per operating cycle and to require more detailed testing than required by current Technical Specifications.
On February 25, 1988, the State of Vermont filed a "Petition of the State of Vermont for Leave to intervene."

THE MOTION The NRC staff has been pursuing a settlement agreement with the l
l State of Vermont in the hope of resolving its concerns without the need for a hearing.
The Staff has scheduled a meeting with representatives of l
