Dear Mr. Davis:

This letter provides additional detail regarding the implementation schedules for certain corrective actions described in reference (a). This information was discussed in a telephone call with Mr. J. Holmes of your staff en June 10, 1988.

(1) Installation of NFPA approved fire pump controller.

A schedule of significant milestones for this project is provided in Attachment A. The limiting factor in the overall schedule is the procurement of the approved controller.

(2) Installation of additional emerger.cy lights.

A schedule of significant milestones is provided in Attachment B. All design work associated with this project has been completed. Installation will be prioritized as follows:

(a) Areas for which no lighting had previously been provided (MS valve house).

(b) Areas for which previously installed lighting requires enhancement.

(c) Like-for like replacement of previously installed' lighting (for~the purposes of standardization and improved reliability).

It is expected that a significent portion of thIs work will be:

completed prior to the' Fall, 1988 Unit 2 outage.

annual PSAR update, it can be seen from Attachment c that a draft submittal will be available by December, 1988. Toj facilitate the review process, this draft willlbe provided to the imc at that time, prior to the completion of.the formal on-site and off-site reviews that are~ required by the technical specifications for such submittals.
