March 2, 1988 Mr. Tom Burdick Chief, Operator Licensing Branch U.S. Nuclear Regulatory Commission 799 Roosevelt Rd., Bldg., #h Glen Ellyn, Il.

60337

Dear Mr. Burdick:

The Code of Federal Pegulations 10CFR55, as ammended 25 May 1987, require annual operating examinations for all licensed operators to be completed within one year of the effective date of the new rule.

Due to the nature of our Requalification Program, and scheduling conflicts caused by Braidwood and Byron Station both sharing the same simulator, Crew F will not complete their operating examinations until Wednesday, June 1, 1988.

In regards to these examinations, Braidwood Station requests a one week extension to the time limits imposed by the new 10CFR55 rule.

If you or your staff have any questions regerding this matter, please contact Mr. George Vanderheyden, extension 2878 at this facility.

Sincerely, l

U
