Quad cities Station Units 1 and 2 "Relocation of Drywell Temperature Indicatior; - Detailed Control Room Design Review (DCRDR), Human Factors Commitment" NRC Docket Nos. 50-254 and 50-265
Dear Mr. Murley:
The drywell temperature indicator, which is located in the Quad Cities Station Control Room, was relocated during the on going Spring 1988 Unit 2 refueling outage. This relocation was done as part of a Detailed control Room Design Review (DCRDR) Human Factors commitment.
The relocation involved moving the indicator from the 902-21 panel to the 902-3 panel. The drywell temperature indicator was moved from a back panel to a front panel.
The relocation of the instrument will involve a change to the instrument location in Table 4.2-2 the Quad Cities Unit 2 Technical Specification (DPR-30). This change is considered administrative in nature.
The new location on the front panel readout is an enhancement over the back panel location which we.s previeusly approved by the NRC.
The 902-3 panel location allows the reactor operator to view the drywell temperature with greater ease.
It is our position that Quad Cities Unit 2 operation is justified with the instrument readout relocated on the 902-3 panel. Commonwealth Edison will submit a Technical Specification amendment by July 15, 1988 which revises the instrument location.
