'Da t e Materials Control and Accountability Section Safeguards Branch Inspection Summary Inspection on June 26-30 and July 6-7, 1978 (Report No. 70-1113/78-13)
Areas Inspected: Records and reports, internal control, measured discards, measurements and a previous identified item of noncompliance.
The inspection involved one hundred and ninety-nine hours on site by five inspectors.
Results: Of the five areas inspected, no apparent items of noncompliance were identified in two areas; six apparent items of noncompliance were identified in three areas (Deficiency - failure to determine the SNM content in fluoride liquid waste volume (78-13-01). Deficiency - failure to follow procedure for discarding Gadolina liquid waste (78-13-02).
Deficiency - failure to calibrate the Uranium Elephant Gun Technique against standards over the range of operation (78-13-03). Deficiency -
failure to include systematic error components associated with volume measurements of liquid waste discards in the determination of curre3t LEMUF (78-13-04).
Infraction - failure to maintain accurate records on bi-weekly basis of the quantity, location and identity of discrtte items within a plant (78-13-05). Deficiency - failure to reprocess all scrap material types within one year which have a measurement uncertainty of greater than plus or minus ten percent (78-13-06).
