NUCLEAR PROJECT N0. 1 RESPONSE TO NRC BULLETINS AND GENLaIC LETTERS

3) Letter, Elinor G.

Adensam (NRC) to RL Ferguson (Supply System), "Extension of Construction Completion Date for WPPSS Nuclear Project No.1" (GIl-83-0113), dated June 16, 1983 In reference 1 the Supply System provided the NRC with the management plan for the construction delay of WNP-1.

Reference 2 submitted Revision 1 to the plan.

By Reference 3, the NRC issued an order extending the WNP-1 construction completion date to June 1,1991.

The Supply System continues to receive NRC Bulletins and Generic Letters that in many cases require an investigation of hardware and/or software and l

a response to the NRC.

Since the Project has been placed in this extended construction delay and resources have been limited to only those necessary L

for preserving the assets, the Supply System, in most cases, has been sending letters to the NRC ir.dicating that our response must be deferred

t. e resumption of construction activities.

We believe that until h

continuing to respond in this fashion is unnecessarily repetitious.

' Her.ceforth, by this letter, ~ the Supply System is deferring responses to NRC Bulletins and Generic Letters unless the NRC specifically requests that we respond for WNP-1, or the Supply System, in reviewing an NRC Bulletin 'or Generic Letter determines that it -is applicable to the ongoing preservation activities at WNP-1.

The Supply System will reply to the outstanding NRC i

Bulletins and Generic Letters that require a response following resumption E-of construction activities.

If you have any questions, please contact Mr. D. W. Coleman, WNP-1 Project Licensing Manager, at (509) 372-5304.

Very truly yours,
