50-328 SEQUOYAH NUCLEAR PLANT (SQN) UNIT 2 - RESTART CRITERIA In a TVA letter on this subject dated January 11, 1988, I indicated TVA planned to continue use of the restart criteria for SQN unit 2 until the time NRC concurrence was requested for restart of that unit; that time is now imminent.
Restart activity and documentation closure onsite are nearing completion; the staff has issued the SQN Nuclear Performance Plan preliminary safety evaluatior. (SE) and subsequent revision.that close the majority of the restart issues; and lastly, nonnuclear heatup'of the SQN unit 2 plant after 2-1/2 years in cold shutdown has been acccaplished, demonstrating station readiness to resume power operation. On this basis, TVA herein requests NRC concurrence that the use of restart criteria be discontinued for SQN unit 2.
TVA plans to continue the use of restart criteria for unit I until a similar point in unit I restart efforts is reached.
