SUBJECT:
EXPIRED LICENSE, NORTHEASTERN UNIVERSITY, BOSTON, MASSACHUSETTS On October 4, 1985, a licensee representative, Stephen R. Larson, Director, Office of Environmental Health and Safety, was contacted and informed that License No. SNM-1932 had expired on September 30, 1985 and that no renewal application had been received. The licensee representative explained that they have received and possessed licensed material, but now possess no licensed material and wish to have the license terminated.
Licensed material was disposed of by donation to University of California, Los Alamos National Laboratory, Los Alamos, New Mexico, 87545, ATTN: V. A. Bond /M. Haas, and was shipped via common carrier.
This was confir.ned by a Form NRC-314 dated October 2, 1985 anc by contact with Stephen R. Larson on October 4, 1985.
Marcene Conley of Los Alamos National Laboratory, a 00E Prime Contractor, con-firmed that they had received 5 Plutonium-Beryllium neutron sources from the licensee on October 9, 1985 and that they are authorized to possess this material.
Pertinent ccrrespondecras and submittals are attached to this memorandum.
Based cn a review of the information supplied by the licensee and a review of the type and form of material authorized by the license, a close out survey by the licensee is not required and this license may be retired.
Based on the above information, we have retired License No. SNM-1932.
Please remove it from your active shelves.
