This Special Report.is submitted in accordance with LaSalle Unit 1 Operating [ License NPF-11, Appendix A, Technical Specification 3.3.7.9 and 6.6.C. i Due to construction activities associated with the Ilydrogen Recombiner Gnubber Reduction and Alternate Rod Insertion design modifications, it was necessary to remove from service fire detection zones 1-40 and 1-22 (Unit 1 Reactor Building - 807' and 710' elevations) on January 13, 1988, and January 17, 1988, respectively. In accordance with the Action Statement "a" of Technical Specification 3.3.7.9. a fire watch patrol was established to inspect the affected area during that time the detectors are inoperable. The smoke detectors have been out of cervice in excess of the allowed fourteen (14) days prior to requiring a Special Report. Fire detection zones 1-40 and 1-22 will be returned to operable service upon completion of the liydrogen l Recombiner Snubber Reduction and Alternate Rod Insertion design modifications. which will be prior to restarting Unit 1 from its second refuel outage. l ,h ,o td G J.
