SUBJECT:

UNIVERSITY OF CALIFORN/A, LOS ANGELES (UCLA) DECOMMISSIONING PHASE II Ve have received your submittal of January 12, 1988 which transmitted answers to our remaining questions about Phase I of the UCLA decomissioning effort and a Request for Quotation (RFQ) for Phase II.

You asked for our review and approval of the RFQ. Because this is a matter between UCLA and its potential bidders, and is not a decommissioning plan, the Nuclear Regulatory Commission (NRC) does not plan to review the RFQ.

Before UCLA can start Phase II of the deconmissioning effort, a plan to dismantic the facility and dispose of the component parts must be submitted pursuant to 10 CFR 50.82 and approved by the NRC.
