June 1997 The reactor operated continuously in June with the following exceptions: five shutdowns for scheduled ma ntenance and refueling; one unscheduled shutdown, l

On June 30, a spurious wide range monitor (N.I. Channel #4) high power rod run-in occurred
.i during a startup for a low-power e cperiment. The reactor power level was 10 kW at the time this occurred. No actual high power indication was observed on any instrumentation. Electronics technicians rescated connections and insulated the cover from the component housing inside the i
Channel #4 picoammeter. The instrument was tested satisfactorily and a startup was completed with no further problems of this type occurring.
Major maintenance items for the month included preparing depleted pool deionization bed "R" i
for disposal and loading new pool deionization bed "Y".
