The NRC staff has reviewed relief request RR-22 as discussed in your letter dated May 6, 1997, for the Peach Bottom Atomic Power Station. Units 2 and 3.

)

Inservice Inspection (ISI) Program.

In RR-22, you requested relief from the ASME Code requirement to perform a hydrostetic test of the reactor pressure vessel one time in the 10-year. ISI interval, at or near the end of the interval. The staff has reviewed your l

request and has concluded that proposed alternative schedule and the proposed system leakage test provide reasonable assurance of structural integrity.

The staff has concluded that the proposed alternative to the Code required schedule would provide an acceptable level of quality and safety.' Therefore, the staff authorizes relief request RR-22 pursuant to 10 CFR 50.55a(a)(3)(1) for Peach Bottom Units 2 and 3.
