Suite 1215 Washington, D.C.

20036 Gentlemen:

In reviewing your two applications dated January 25, 1988, your reference JJ5625, for licenses to export nuclear material, we note in both cases that the ultimate consignee is the Shimane Unit No. 1 nuclear power reactor; and the intermediate consignee for conversion of the UF,. to U0,, is Japan Nuclear fuel Co., Ltd. The only differences on the two applYeations are the intermediate consignees for the fabrication of fuel elements. These two applications are being processed under our numbers XSNM02367 and XSfM02368, respectively.

In the interest of saving considerable time, effort and paperwork, in the future, you may wish to consider combining similar applications. The multiple intermediate consignees for fuel fabrication could be listed on a separate sheet and attached to the application, if necessary. A sample application of how this could be accomplished is attached for your review and consnent.

If you have any questions regarding this suggested consolidat!un, please call

!!s. Betty Wright of my staf f.

Sincerely, rv n

. Peterson, Assistant Director for International Security Office of Governmental and Public Affairs
