SUBJECT: NRC INSPECTION REPORT 50-285/97-07 AND NOTICE OF VIOLATION
Dear Mr. Gambhir:
Thank you for your letter of June 19,1997, in response to our letter and Notice of
Violation dated May 19,1997. We have reviewed your reply and find it responsive to the
concerns raised in our Notice of Violation. We note that you disagreed with Violation A
being cited as failure to initiate a condition report to document a valve body to bonnet
steam leak and stated that the citation should have been for failure to initiate a work
request or deficiency tag as required by Standing Order M-101, " Maintenance Work-
Control," After reviewing your explanation, we agree. The steam leak in question- did not
affect the operability of the steam-driven auxiliary feedwater pump and did not represent a

Report 50-285/97 07, revised to reflect the appropriate violation. Because your reply of
June .19,1997, was satisfactory, no additional response is required. We will review the
implementation of your corrective actions during a future inspection to determine that full
compliance has been achieved and will be maintained.
