THREE MILE ISLAND, UNIT 1 (TMI-1) - APPROVAL OF TOPICAL REPORT TR-091 (TAC NO. M92166)
Dear Mr. Knubel:
GPU Nuclear Corporation (GPUN) submitted Topical Report TR-091, " Steady State Reactor Physics Methodology for TMI-1," for NRC review and approval on March 6, 1995. This topical report was developed to support demonstration of GPUN's capability to perform core reload analyses for TMI-1.
The report addresses the application of CASM0-3 and SIMULATE-3 computer codes in modeling TMI-1 cores and compares the results to actual plant operations data.
The staff has completed reviewing TR-091 and is satisfied that GPUN has demonstrated its ability to use the CASM0-3/ SIMULATE-3 computer program package for reload analyses at THI-1. A copy of our related Safety Evaluation is enclosed.
