NARRATIVE

SUMMARY

OF OPERATING EXPERIENCES 1

At the beginning of the month, the unit was shutdown for steam .

generator work. t l On January 11, the reactor was made critical, and power increased to 4

let on January 16.

j On January 16, power was held at let for turbine roll and testing.

l On January 16, the main generator was phased to the grid.

l On January 16, the main generator was taken off-line due to problems g controlling main generator temperature.

On January 16, the main generator was phased to the grid.

On January 17, 1996, power was held at 24.5% for boron soak of the steam generator and electric soak of the main generator.

On January 18, a power reduction was commenced due to turbine

generator overspeed testing. The main generator was taken off-line, but phased to the grid that same day.

i On January 19, power was held at 48% for power escalation testing.

Power increase was commenced on January 20, but was held again at 55%

i for steam driven feed pump (P-2C) phase on. Power increase commenced on January 21.

1 On January 22, power was held at 76% for circulating water box backwash.

Power increase commenced and the unit reached 90.3% (2440 MWt) on

! January 24, and remained at this power the rest of the month.
