The U.S. Nuclear Regulatory Commission (NRC) Plant Systems Branch has reviewed the advanced markup of the AP600 TS submitted by Westinghouse letter NSD-NRC-97-5176, dated June 18, 1997.

Westinghouse submittal, the staff has additional questions on the proposed changes to the AP600 TS. The RAls are enclosed with this letter.

i RAls ON ADVANCED MARKUP AP600 TECHNICAL SPECIFICATION 410.301 Regarding the Completion Times for LC0 3.7.1 (B.2), LCO 3.7.2 (0.2), LC0 3.7.3 (D.2), and LC0 3.7.7 (C.2)
The completion time specified for Mode 4 with RCS cooling provided by RNS is "24" hours in the AP600 LCOs identified above.
It deviates from STS, which has "12" hours.
Please justify this l
deviation.
410.302 Westinghouse Standard Technical Specifications includes a TS l
LCO 3.7.4 for the atmospheric dump valves. AP600 TSs do not I
include such an LCO.
Please justify the exclusion of this TS for l
AP600.
i 410.303 The Applicability Modes for LC0 3.7.'4, Secondary Specific Activity, for the AP600 are Modes 1 and 2.
This is a deviation from STS, which has Modes 1, 2, 3, and 4..
Please justify this deviation.
