In response to IE Bulletin 85-03, Duquesne Light company submitted the initial
- report, dated May 16, 1986, on the Beaver Valley Power
- Station, Unit No.
1 (BVPS-1)
IEB 85-03 program objectives.
In
- addition, by letter, dated September 25, 1987, we provided the BVPS-1 and 2
responses to the office of Nuclear Regulatory Regulation's (NRR) Request for Additional Information.
The submittal date which was provided for the final report was based on the anticipated schedule of the BVPS-1 sixth refueling outage.
The outage provided the opportunity to complete the testing of valves as needed.
At the time of the initial report the outage schedule was projected to end on or around December 31, 1987.
Subsequently, the outage end date was moved ahead to February 5, 1988 to reflect the later outage start date of December 11, 1987.
Notwithstanding, we believed that the final report could still be prepared and submitted to the NRR as originally planned.
We believed this because the valve operators which remained to be MOVATS tested were scheduled for testing-and were tested - by the end of the first month of the outage.
However, because of recent developments we now anticipate the outage to end by the latter part of February or early March an approximately thirty (30) day increase in the duration of the outage.
Consequently, the completion of the review and preparation of the valve test data for the final report are being affected by the ongoing outage work.
Specifically, the personnel who are involved in completing the review and preparation of the data for the report are also involved with other valve related outage work.
l Therefore, based on the current situation, we are requesting a i
thirty (30) day extension to complete the review and preparation of l
the data for the report and to submit the report on March 30, 1988.
We believe that the request is commensurate with the increased time of the outage and is necessary to account for the sustained work i
load.
The extension will also allow sufficient additional time to l
assure the completeness of the report and to submit the report to the NRR in a timely manner.
