NRC INSPECTION REPORT 999 90002/97 02
Dear Ms. Norman:
This refers to the special, unannounced inspection conducted by this office on.
June 6, 1997. At the conclusion of the inspection, the findings were discussed with you. The enclosed NRC Inspection Report 999 90002/97-02 documents that inspection.
The inspection was conducted to review the circumstances surrounding the possession of a container of unknown radioactive material at West Potomac High School. The inspection consisted of interviews with you, members of your staff, and the Fairfax County Public Schools' Office of Security and Risk Management. The inspector also performed a radiation contamination survey of the area in which the radioactive material had been stored.
No violations of NRC requirements or safety concerns were identified during the inspection.
In accordance with 10 CFR 2.790 of the NRC's " Rules of Practice," a co)y of this letter, its enclosure, and any reply will be placed in the NRC Pualic Document Room.
