Surveillance Requirements," radiation monitor R-60C (Main Steam Relief and Atmospheric
- Steam Dump Discharge) was declared inoperable due to the monitor nonnal light not being lit and erroneous data indicated on the plant computer. A mandatory Limiting Condition of
~
Operation (LCO) was written for R-60C requiring restoration to operable status by 0050 on July 11,1997, and a work order was generated to repair R-60C.
Maintenance troubleshooting isolated the problem to the detector. Due to the detector.
l location (main steam valve room roofin close proximity to steam generator safety relief valve discharges), repair of the monitor is a potential safety concern should any relieflift during the repair effort. Therefore, repair of the monitor should be performed only under cold shutdown -
1 conditions to ensure personnel safety. R-60C is scheduled to be repaired during the next
- outage of sufficient duration where the plant will be in cold shutdown. TS action statement i
requirements are being met for radiation monitor R-60C.
AdditionalInformation The following Special Reports have been submitted for similar radiation monitors exceeding the LCO restoration time due to inaccessibility with the unit operating at power:
