Dear Sirs:

This is a reply to a Notice of Violation The reference of the notice is Docket no. 070-00892.

We are responding to three items as listed in the notice.

A.

As indicated in the notice area surveys were not conducted with the model S-101 survey meter, due to the non-operational condition of the meter.

I have already received permission from Chemistry to use their survey meter for making measurements.

These measuremente are to be made on or before March 30, 1988.

An order is to be-place for a new survey meter for the 1988-39 school year.

B.

In April of 1987 I had a student do a project using the neutron source and a neutron detector.

The primary purpose of the project was to do absorption measurements.

He did however, do some calibration and survey measurements, but not in as much' detail as indicated in the license application.

I failed to report this to the inspector.

We shall begin making meas trements as indicated in the license application as of or before March 30, 1988.

C.

Room 243 was not posted with a "Radiation Materials" sign.

Students occasionally "rip" off these signs.

The proper sign is now posted and we have an adequate supply for future use.

Corrective measures are now being taken to remedy all violations reported by the inspector.

This year, 1988, is the year that our license expires.

We have not as yet received a notice with the rules and regu2ations for making application.

If you have already sent the notice please send a duplicate directly to me.
