SUBJECT: ROOT CAUSE DETERMINATION / CORRECTIVE ACTION TEAM INSPECTION

NRC INSPECTION REPORT NOS. 50-327/97-09 AND 50-328/97-09

Dear Mr. Kingsley:

The purpose of this letter is to announce the subject inspection at your Sequoyah facility. We

have scheduled this inspection for August 4 - 8,1997. The designated inspection team

,

leader, Jerome J. Blake, will make arrangements with your staff to telephonically discuss the

'

inspection plans in more detail.

The inspection objective will be to evaluate the effectiveness of your corrective action

program as it relates to identified problems associated with selected systems and

components. The inspection will be conducted using inspection Procedure 40500,

i

" Effectiveness of Licensee Controls in Identifying, Resolving, and Preventing Problems," and

J

will involve a team of at least four inspectors.

The team will require information about your program and its implementation for their in-office

preparation and while onsite for the inspection. A description of the material that is needed is

outlined in the enclosure. Our designated team leader will be contacting your staff and

arranging for specific material to be provided by July 25,1997.
