l On December 23, 1987, we notified you by our letter, logged TXX-7041, of a deficiency involving the effect of thermolag on cable derating factors which '

we deemed to be reportsble under the provisions of 10CFRSO.55(e). This report is submitted to provide preventive actions and our completion schedule for this issue.

Design Basis Document DBD-EE-052, "Cable Philosophy and Sizing Criteria," has been issued to establish the design criteria for cable ampacity derating.

This DBr, replaces the original governing cable rating procedure. Use of the criteria established by the DBD when sizing future cables will prevent recurrence of this deficiency.

The activities specified to correct this deficiency will be completed no later than August 1, 1988, for Unit 1. Unit 2 activities will be implemented in accordance with the general construction schedule. Supporting documentation will be available for your inspectors to review after September 15, 1988, at the CPSES Project Site.
