REQUEST FOR ADDITIONAL INFORMATION (RAI) TO ASSIST CLOSURE OF NRR STAFF REVIEW 0F FORT CALHOUN GENERIC LETTER 89-10 PROGRAM (TAC NO.
M75664)
In response to your letter dated June 16, 1994, which stated that you had completed actions necessary to meet your commitments to Generic Letter (GL) 89-10, " Safety-Related Motor-0perated Valve Testing and Surveillance," a conference call was conducted among Mr. G. Cook and others of your staff, Mr. T. Westerman and others of the NRC Region IV staff, ar.d Mr. T. Scarbrough and others of the Office of Nuclear Reactor Regulation staff on July 13, 1994.
During this conference call, we stated our intent to close your GL 89-10 program by performing an in-house document review in lieu of an on-site inspection.
For this purpose, we request that you submit the following information for our review:
(a)
Summary of information detailed in Enclosure 2 of NRC memorandum dated July 12,1994 (items 04.04 through 04.11 and Part 1 issues).
(b)
Update of actions taken on inspection followup items and ongoing issues that were to be completed by June 28, 1994, as documented in NRC Inspection Report 50-285/94-05.
(c) Summary of M0V enhancements that are planned for future implementation.
(d) Statement of long-range intent related to rectifying the capability problems with the feedwater isolation valves as discussed in NRC Inspection Report 50-285/94-05.
(e) Current status of resolving PORV issues related to TMI Action Item II.D.1 (NRC Safety Evaluation dated June 3,1993).
It is not our intent for your staff to expend an excessive amount of resources in this effort.
Each item should be addressed concisely.
The need for amplifying information can be handled on a case-by-case basis.
