Dear:
Mr., Trotter -
4 In. response to your E-mail message to Charles E. Ader dated March 13, L
19.6,. enclosed please find'a test matrix on' passive autocatalytic-recombiners 9
o The test
- performance that will be conducted at Sandia National Laboratories.
matrix is preliminary and subject to chenge based on the results of the initial tests, Sincerely,

Performance.
1/8 1 bar air, 1 bar steam, continuous (This test will burn injection of H, and 0, until PAR reaches the hydroph 'aic coat) steady state at 7%H, Scaling maybe impacted by the hydrogen concentration.
A new test is proposed at 7%H, with 1/2 or 1/4 PAR to define PAR scaling at higher H, concentrations.
SNL to
. provide a cost estimate for the additional test.

's NOTES:
(1)
Take gas grab samples after each hydrogen injection and after fans are turned off.
Allow PAR to cool (PAR has effectively stopped recombining H, and 0,) and use mixing fans before measuring final concentration.
Experiment will continue to test H, concentrations higher than the startup H, concentrations by.2 and.4%H -
2 (2)
The. l 4%H, concentration is a preliminary estimate of the highest H, concentration that will not burn the hydrophobic coat.
SNL to provide final estimate.
(3)
SNL to investigate if a 1/16 PAR can be used for all the tests that currently are
. proposed with 1/8 PAR.
The tests assume removal of the false floor and any structures from the Surtsey facility
'that are directly under the PAR.
The rest of the supports (horizontal and vertical) will remain in place.
PAR location about 1 meter above the floor supports.
Since the temperature readings from the PAR cartridges are very important more than 6 TCs should be placed in the PAR for additional temperature point measurements and in case some of the existing TCs malfunction The current funding level will support the first 6 or 7 tests.
