SUBJECT:
STAFF REQUIREMENTS - PER![OE IC MEETING WITH THE ADVISORY COMMITTEE ON SEACTOR. SAFEGUARDS (ACRS), 2:00 P.M.,
THURSDAY, SEPTEMBER 9, 1993, COMMISSIONERS' CONFERENCE ROOM, ONE WHITE FLINT NORTH, ROCKVILLE, MARYLAND (OPEN TO PUBLIC ATTENDANCE)
The Commission was briefed by the ACRS on the status of the ACRS review of evolutionary and passive plant designs, selected ALWR policy issues and the ACRS review of the Regulatory Review Group report.
The ACRS commented that the Commission, in its Staff Requirements Memorandum on SECY-93-087, did not address the ACRS concern in i
the area of fire protection for the heating and ventilation systems.
The Commission did address that issue in the second r
paragraph of the first requirement.
The Commission stated that it "would like to be kept informed of the staff's resolution of the issue related to common-mode failures through common ventilation systems."
This was intended to indicate ~that since the staff and the ACRS were addressing the matter, the Commission would await the final staff resolution before deciding whether it i
agreed with the resolution.
