Attn: Docketing & Service 3 ranch Gentlecen:

This letter is in reference to the storage of spent nuclear fuel at the Susquehanna Steam and Electric Station at the 3 ell Bend site. This is my forcal obj ection to such an arrangecent.

On the 20th of Seytenber I wrote a letter con-cerning this subject to Mr. W1. E. Regan Jr.,

chi ef of environmental projects. In respense to this letter, I received a tele,. hone call from a Mr. (Singhay) of tne office. At that time he assured me that the spent fuel would be stored at the site only until it would be safe to ship it to a storage site. Tnis he said would be a caximum of tix nonths. During tnis conver-sation I was inforced thaty,.'a team from the :iRC would be in this area to inspect the plant site-on the 17th and 18th of October and they would stop by our home and discuss these issues with 24. On the lith of October a very, small article appeared in our local paper concenning' the storage of the spent fuel at the 3 ell Bend' site. This article couldn' t hav e been any smaller. In fact it contained three s ent ences. To say the least it went unnoticed by the majority of the area residents.

However, when the team made their visit to our home, I questioned Mr. Singhay (wno was accompanied by two othe" persons) and he inforced se that the spent fuel wouId indeed be stored at the plant site for 10 years. He didn't say it was pending any certification. It was a de-finite statement that the fuel would indeed be stored there for.the 10 year period. It seems that this like all. the other things that ??&L has decided to do in this area will indeed be a reality.

Up to this point the governnent has done nothing to protect the residents of tcis area. We have received dacage to our properties during the construction of the plant, which I an sure the authorities were we:1 aware of at the time, but chose to ignor. Our beautiful area has been desecrated by the scars of power lines in all

where toxic chemicals and other dangerous caterials have been stored. Inese sites have begun to make their presence known to the people who live there. I am not in favor of our area being added to that list.

I would like a derinMe statement on this issue.

Just what is going to be done with the spent fuel?

Where will it be stored?
