After reviewing the contents of the NRC staff's May 8, 1997 hearing file and applicant Frank J..Calabrese Jr.'s June 4, 1997 written presentation, it is apparent NRC publication " Operator Licensing Examiner Standards,"

.NUREG-1021 (rev. 7 Jan. 1993 & supp. 1 June 1994),.is relevant to this proceeding. Although the staff included a portion of that document in the hearing file for this proceeding, applicant Calabrese has made reference to other parts of the document. To ensure the record is complete, at the time the staff files its written presentation, the staff

! should supplement the hearing file with a complete version i

l of that document.

In addition, at the time it makes its written

! presentation, the Presiding Officer expects that the staff l

Attachment 1 to Examiner Standard (ES)-302 in NUREG-1021 sets forth policies and guidelines that each applicant is to be briefed on prior to taking ,

the operating' test segment of a reactor operator examination. Relative to the simulator test portion of his senior reactor operator's license examination, which parts of these policies and guidelines was applicant Calabrese informed of and when and how was this information provided (i.e.,

! in writing or orally)?

As part of his response to the staff's written presentation, applicant Calabrese may comment on the staff's answer to this question.
