Dear Mr. Seyfrit:

In our letter to you dated September 19, 1978, we provided responses to infractions as described in IE Inspection Report No. 50-298/78-13 dated August 29, 1978.

We were requested by Mr. Madsen's letter dated October 4, 1978, to provide additional information regarding Infraction C of the t),.:

subject report.

It was stated that we did not nddress the item of 3

s noncompliance.

We were requested to provide the information required by Section 2.201 of Part 2, Title 10, Code of Federal Regulations.

As per this request, we are providing the fol. lowing information:

Corrective Steps Which Have Been Taken l

/.-

The Station Superintendent has made a thorough review of the seven MUR's referenced in the inspection report Several of the MWR's

[.

consisted of work on non-essential functions of essential systems

<~

and, thus, Q.C. Inspection was not necessarily required.

However,

'h[

they had been marked as requiring 0.C.

Inspection and, the re fore,

(

Q.C. Inspection should have been performed as per our procedures.

In all cases, some Q.C. inspection had been performed but the appropriate description of the Q.C. inspection was not listed.

j j.;;

A SORC Meeting was held with the appropriate personnel to discuss each of the referenced MWR's and their disposition.

In two cases, a maintenance procedure will be written to describe the work to be performed.

This prc cedure will include the Q.C. inspection expected for that work activity.

In the other cases requiring Q.C. inspection,

..}

the appropriate Q.C. description will be defined in the station maintenance procedure as described in the following section, y

Corrective Steps Which Will Be Taken To Avo2d Furtner Noncompliance We have drafted a revision to the procedure for station maintenanca.

We have attempted to define the objectives of the Q.C. program, responsibilities of the Q.C. inspector, elements of work to be inspected, and documentation required for Q.C. activities.

We believe it ' sill also be necessary to modify the MWR form.

3.

Date When Full _ Compliance Will Be Achieved We expect to complete the above mentioned actions by January 1, 1979.

Ilowever, we believe that we have initiated other inter-mediate steps such that we are currently in full compliance with our Q.A. Program and Procedures.

If you have any questions regarding this response, please contact L. C.

Lessor.

Sincerely, v'\\
