Major Accomplishments - December 1987 Technical Held exit on 12/1 for November inspections.
Kavin Ward of Region III was onsite 12/1-3 for Unit 2 preservice inspection.
RFW attended the exit on 12/3.
Bruce Earnest of Region IV was onsite 12/22-23 for a safeguards inspection.
RFW attended the exit on 12/23.
Issued IR 50-445/8728 (Kelley) on 12/15.
Issued IR 50-445/8729, 50-446/8721 (Hale) on 12/16.
Issued IR 50-445/8730, 50-446/8722 (Wagner) on 12/16.

Held enforcement conference on AFW pump motor fans installed backwards on 12/8.

Public meeting on 12/9 between OSP & TUE to discuss CAP and receive comments from CASE.
Meeting on 12/1 between Wagner and TUE to discuss elactrical Concerns.
Cordell Williams onsite 12/2-4 and 12/'4 to meet with TUE and Texas State Department of Labor and Standards to discuss ASME site activities'and issues.
Meeting on 12/22 between RFW, Graham, TUE, and Ebasco to discuss HVAC Tremco 440 gasket concern.
Meeting on 12/23 between RFW, Graham, TUE, and SWEC to discuss tubing weld concern.
Meetings on 12/15 in Region IV between RFW and Martin; RFW, Callen, and Milhoan; and RFW, Bangart, Yandell, Fisher, and Hall to discuss Comanche Peak status, CPPD inspection schedule & staffing, OSP/RIV interface regarding projected inspection needs, and other matters of mutual interest.
Terao briefed the NRC site staff on 12/8 regarding his work in the areas of piping, NVAC, conduits, and cable tray hangers.
Norkin briefed the NRC site staff on 12/11 regarding his work in the areas of mechanical, electrical, instrumentation, and civil / structural.
Kelley attended the Region IV Resident Inspectors seminar on 12/16-17.
McKee, Malloy, Lyons onsite 12/8-11 for training.
Norkin onsite 12/9-11 for training.
Grimes onsite 12/3-4, 8, 10, and 11 for public meetings, management meetings, and program direction.
Vietti-Cook onsite 12/10 for SIMS work.
Ebneter onsite 12/8 and 10 to meet the staff, tour the plant, and give program direction.

Issued a letter on 12/11 confirming lead responsibility for follow up and closecut of each of the CPRRG recommendations.
Administrative Held staff meetings on 12/3, 10, 17, and 24.
Updated the NRC chronology of site activities to include November and December.
Prepared report of onsite inspection activities for the 9th NRC staff progress report (November and December).
Herb Livermore started working in his new position on 12/1 as Lead Senior Inspector replacing Ian Barnes.
Ian Barnes transferred to RIV 12/5/87.
Hired Steve Bitter to fill the RI-Operations vacancy 12/1, Karen League was onsite 12/3 to give typing test to job applicants.
Interviewed applicants for the part-time secretarial vacancy on 12/3.
Selected Nancy Hodges to fill the secretarial vacancy -
12/3.
Linda Ousley of Region IV was onsite 12/2 taking pictures and then issuing new picture badges for NRC onsite personnel.
Jeana Higgins and Linda Ousley were onsite 12/2 to discuss recommendations on reducing NRC onsite elephone costs.
OSP staff attended a 3 day training course on conflict resolution 12/9-11.
Chris Grimes and John Montgomery (RIV eputy Regional Administrator) were onsite 12/4 to present license certificates to newly licensed SROs and ROs of TU Electric.
Herb Livermore spent the week of 12/14-18 in Region II completing his assigned RII work.
