50-327. -328/87-53 SCHEDULE CHANGE TVA's response to Gary G. Zech's August 19, 1987 letter to S. A. White on the subject violation was provided by my letter dated September 23, 1987. This included a commitment to complete control room barrier modifications by December 19, 1987. Most of the modifications are complete; however, completion of the modifications involving the newly procured doors has been delayed. Because of the substantial nature of the doors, the lock sets provided with the doors have been determined to be inadequate for their intended use and would provide a very limited functional life.
Therefore, the lock sets have been returned to the supplier for modification.
The final barrier modifications and associated testing are now expected to be completed about February 16, 1988, based on expeditious return of the modified parts.
Any required compensatory measure will remain in place until the control room barrier is functional.
The delay in the December 19, 1987 schedule was discussed with R. Carroll on December 15, 1987.
