Your letter of March 16, 1988 concerning the DOL complaint of Mr. Andrew Bartlik I am pleased to provide an initial response to your March 16, 1988 letter concerning the intimidation and harassment com-plaint filed by Mr. Andrew Bartlik with the Department of Labor.
As we agreed, a detailed response to your letter will be provided by March 24, 1988.
As stated in Volume 1,Section V of the Nuclear Performance Plan, the TVA Office of Nuclear Power has an extensive program designed to ensure that there is no intimidation and harassment in the workplace.
In our March 4, 1988 testimony before the Com-mission (transcript at pages 20-25), we described our successful implementation of that program.
It is very important that TVA continue the progress made in the last two years to enhance employee trust and confidence in management.
I have repeatedly said that I will not tolerate intimidation and harassment in the workplace.
I continue to impress upon TVA managers the need to be alert to ensure that nothing is done to chill or discourage our employees or contractor employees from raising safety con-cerns.
TVA currently is appealing the DOL finding concerning Mr. Bartlik.
There is no reason to believe that Mr. Bartlik's allegations will have an adverse effect on the comprehensive pro-gram that TVA has undertaken or the progress that we have made in the area of intimidation and harassment.
