failure of one of the half-capacity main transformers at the end of August.

The remaining transformer was uprated to allow s69% output while preparations were made to borrow and install a spare transformer.

On October 5, the plant was taken off-line to tie in the borrowed transformer.

l I

After about a 2-day outage the plant returned to power, now utilizing both transformers.

Power escalation was maintained slow and additional Physics Testing was performed at N 93%.

This was equivalent to the old license power level of 2440 MWth.

On October 17 breaker problems on the 345 KY distribution system necessitated i

a load reduction to N68%.

Following correction of this problem, the plant again escalated power and at 1100 hrs. on October 21 the plant was stabilized at 864 MWe gross. This related tos97% reactor power.

The limit of 864 MWe is based on the loading limit for the low pressure turbine blading.

Evaluations are presently being conducted to cetermine if additional loading is possible.

The plant remained at this power level for the remainder of the month.
