Gentlemen:
I am writing this lett3r as a concerned citizen with regard to proposed construction of the Berlin Heights, Ohio nuclear plant. It is not my intent in this letter to debate the pros and cons of nuclear energy, the alleged dangers associated with nuclear energy sources, nor the necessities and ramifications of power lines, substations, eminent domain, or related matters.
I am not a scientist or expert in these matters.
My, concern is the proposed geographic location of the Erie nucleariplant at Berlin Heights, Ohio in an area of northern Ohio ' w ith a significant and sizable population density (people and people-made density) and an already established nuclear facility at nearby Port Clinton, Ohio. I will be the first to admit that any prop'osed location will meet with objections from citizens in the area affected. *But even as a layman, it is obvious that a proposed site at Berlin Heights with atten-dant power lines, towers, substations, e tc. will certainly add to the density and glut of wires, construction, and related activities now evident in this area of Ohio.
My point is simply this: There must be viable alternatives to this proposed plant location'in an already burdened ' north central sector of Ohio. I would certainly appreciate all help from your commission in thoroughly evaluating all alternative sites to that at Berlin Heights, Ohio. In addition, may I ask that, if possible, your commission forward to no any in-formation concerning proposed power plant sites and evaluation studios.
