SUBJECT:

COMANCHE PEAK STEAM ELECTRIC STATION (CPSES)

DOCKET N05. 50-445 AND 50-446 REACTOR COOLANT PUMP WIRING SDAR: CP-88-07 (FINAL REPORT)

Gentlemen:

On January 11, 1988, we notified you by our letter, logged TXX-88066, of a deficiency involving reactor coolant pump wiring which we deemed _ reportable under the provisions of 10CFR50.55(e).

This is a final report submitted to provide the generic implications and corrective action completion schedule for this issue.

In TXX-88066, we noted that the reactor coolant pump wiring configuration was being evaluated to assure proper isolation end separation of Class IE and non-Class 1E circuits, cables, and devices.

We have completed this evaluation and isolation devices will be installed in both trains of Class 1E circuits and the cable will be rerouted as non-Class IE beyond the isolation devices. With the addition of the isolation devices, only non-Class lE cables will enter and terminate inside the Train "C" 6.9kV Switchgear.

This deficiency could have affected Class lE to non-Class IE cable interfaces in Units 1 and 2.

Corrective actions for Unit 1 are currently scheduled 'or completion by June 18, 1988.

The corresponding Unit 2 corrective actions will be completed prior to Unit 2 fuel load.

Very truly yours, W. G. Counsil Bv:
