SUBJECT:
COMANCHE PEAK STEAM ELECTRIC STATION (CPSES)
DOCKET N0. 50-446 SMALL BORE PIPING AND SUPPORTS SDAR: CP-86-72 (FINAL REPORT FOR UNIT 2)
Gentlemen:
P On June 9, 1986, we notified you via TXX-4844 of a reportable item involving the scope of plant modifications resulting from the project's pipe support validation program.
This is a final report submitted to provide the schedule for completion of corrective action on Unit 2.
Our Final Report on Unit I was logged Txx-88100, submitted on January 29, 1988.
f.s we stated in our last report, this issue was initially deemed reportable after identification of a single overstressed pipe support in the Chemical and Volume Control System (TXX-4844, dated June 9, 1986).
Subsequently, we have not performed a detailed failure analysis of individual pipe supports requiring modification on Unit 2.
However, we have conservatively assumed that detailed analyses of individual supports would have identified other overstressed hangers, some of which could have adversely af fected the safety of operations over the life of the plant.
We will complete raquired support modifications on Unit 2 prior to the Unit 2 hot functional test.
The support modifications implemented for Unit 2 will be similar to those implemented for Unit 1.
Very truly yours, W. G. Counsil By:
