Pursuant to the requirements of 10 CFR 50.55a(f)(5)(i), Southern Nuclear Operating Company (SNC) herein submits the Pump and Valve Inservice Testing Programs for Vogtle ,

Electric Generating Plant (VEGP), Units 1 and 2. The two enclosed documents represent the j second ten-year interval update for the inservice testing (IST) of pumps and valves at VEGP.

The IST program was updated to the requirements of the ASME OM Code,1990 Edition, for pump and valve testing, with the exception of safety relief valves. The safety relief valves were updated to the requirements of the ASME OM Code,1995 Edition.

By letter dated November 27,1996, the NRC granted relief to update the Unit-2 IST l

- Program concurrently with the Unit-1 IST Program update, in addition, the NRC granted \

relief to update the VEGP IST Program according to the above referenced editions of the i ASME OM Code. As indicated in Georgia Power Company (GPC) letter LCV-0861 dated August 16,1996, formal relief requests regarding these issues are included in the enclosed program documents as RR-G-1 and RR-G-2. 4

Implementation of the updated IST Programs will be phased-in over a one-year period y[

starting on May 31,1997 as outlined in GPC letter LCV-0861-C dated March 14,1997.  !
