PARTICIPATION IN CHINESE SAFEGUARDS VISITS l
Dear Mr. Maas:
j As you may know, the U.S. Nuclear Regulatory Commission (NRC) has several initiatives ongoing to assist foreign nations in developing their nuclear programs. A group of five delegates from the Peoples Republic of China (PRC) have requested a visit to your facility on July 11, 1997, as part of a safeguards visit to the NRC. They plan to exchange information and regulatory i
experience with us on nuclear material centrol and accounting.
In order to help you understand what effort may be required for you to prepare for this type of visit, I am informing you that you must not expose the visitors to any information covered by 10 CFR Part 810.
This regulation prohibits any information transfer that is considered sensitive nuclear technology.
In the way of guidance, you could reveal any information that you would make available to the public; however, information considered proprietary (i.e., not available to competitors) should not be disclosed.
Considering the above information, we hope that you agree to accommodate the PRC visitors to support our international efforts.
Please respond promptly so that arrangements can be made.
