This is in resconse to your letter of November 2,1979 to former Chairman, Joseph Fer.drie, regarding your concern over the charges of " lax security" at Indian point Nuclear Power Station.

They were either reported to the NRC by the licensees or they were identified during our routine inspection program. Corrective actions have been taktn and are continuing to be taken at both reactor sites.

Concurrently with the special inspections, the NRC initiated an inves-tigation into the allegations of fraudulent training records. This' investigation is still in progress. In response to your request, a copy of the final investigation report will be forwarded to you when the investigation is completed.

Based on the results of our inspections to date, we have concluded that at no time, either prior to or following the publication of the newspaper reports, have the physical protection programs at either Indian Point.

Unit 2 or Ur.it 3 not been effective programs, capable of protecting the nuclear power reactor from an act of industrial sabotoge as required by the Code of Federal Regulations.
