1 Docket Number 99900049/78-01 NOTICE OF DEVIATION Based on the results of an NRC. Inspection conducted on July 24-26, 1978, it appears that certain of your activities were not conducted in full compliance with NRC requirements as indicated below:
l Criterion VII of Appendix B to 10 CFR 50 states in part, "... The effec-tiveness of the control of quality by... subcontractors shall be assessed
... at intervals consistent with the importance, complexity, and quantity of the product or services."
The foregoing requirement is supplemented under paragraph 3.2.2 of the vendor's QA Manual which states in part, " Audits shall be performed of all approved vendors that have been surveyed, within one year of prior audit."
Contrary to the above requirements, the records demonstrated that audits of A&M's approved casting suppliers were not being performed within the prescribed time period.
