SUBJECT:
DISPOSITION OF PROCESSED WATER FROM TMI-2 On November 21, 1979, I received a copy of a letter from the City of Lancaster to Mark Augenblick (Met-Ed) dated November 9,1979, and a i
copy of a letter from Mark Augenblick to the City of Lancaster dated i
November 19, 1979, in which the respective parties discuss methods of i
disposida of the law suit against the NRC and the utility. Since I don't knew who sent me copies of the letters, I am sending you a copy of each together with my own conuments on the contents of these letters.
The general thrust of these letters is that if Met-Ed connaits not to discharge processed water from TMI-2 for the next two years and if the l
NRC agrees to an independent evaluation then the City of Lancaster would withdraw its law suit. Of course, I don't see how the NRC can agree to the latter. Before we can agree to the former, we must make an independent evaluation as to Met-Ed's capability to store all the water from TMI-2 for the next two years. Contrary to Bob Arnold's opinion, I am not as optomistic that Met-Ed has this capability. Until we receive Met-Ed's report on this subject, which we expect to receive sometime in December (No firm date has been established), I would hope that OGC would not agree to any proposals made by the City of Lancaster or Met-Ed.
