4 Gentlemen:

In Mr. Kane's affidavit on Intervenors' Contention 15 filed on July 14, 1978, the ongoing Staff activities with respect to sensitization of stainless steel were discussed (see page 12).

Since that affidavit was prepared, further progress along these lines has been made and the Staff has proposed revision of current positions in Regulatory Guide 1.44 along the lines indicated in the affidavit.

A copy of the internal Staff memorandum containing these recommendations is attached for the information of the Board.
