Umerick Generating Station, Units 1 and 2 1997 Annual Emergency Preparedness Exercise Scenario Gentlemen:
Attached is the Umerick Generating Station (LGS), Units 1 and 2,1997 Annua! Emergency Preparedness Exercise scenario package for NRC review. This scenario package is being submitted 60 days prior to the scheduled June 24,1997, annual exercise in accordance with an NRC letter dated August 9,1989, regarding the submittal of " Emergency Exercise Objectives and l
Scenario Guidelines." This emergency exercise is a biennial full-participation exercise, and l
therefore, will involve the participation of offsite emergency response agencies.
The attached scenario package provides the ' scenario objectives, schedules, exercise rules, and controller contingency and simulation information. This package also contains data relating to I
plant conditions, radiation levels and release rates, and samples of the data to be presented.
The scenario information attached to this letter is of a confidential nature and is not for public disclosure. The August 9,1989, letter identifies which individuals should receive copies of the exercise scenario information. However, based on discussions with NRC Region i representatives concerning the submittal of exercise objective and scenario information, the scenario package for the 1997 LGS Annual Emergency Preparedness Exercise will only be distributed to those individuals involved in evaluating this exercise.
