ORDER MODIFYING LICENSE (EFFECTIVE IMMEDIATELY)

This is to inform the Comission that an Order Modifying License, effective imediately, is being . issued today to Georgia Institute of Technology. The Order Modifying License requires the licensee to imediately suspend certain activities under its NRC license until requirements of the Order are satisfied which include: (1) an assessment of management controls, (2) an assessment of personnel exposures from an August 1987 incident, and (3) a review of health i

physics and operating procedures, i Under the terms of the Order, the licensee or any other person who has an

! interest adversely affected by this Order may, within 20 days of the date of i receipt of the Order, file a written answer under oath or affirmation and may l

also request a hearing.

A news release has been prepared and will be issued after the licensee. receives the Order. The State of Georgia will be notified.
