We have, however, already comitted to using the RSS and other relevant information to imorove the inspection function.
We believe our actions are consistent with the portion of the first Lewis Report recommendation which is applicable to IE's function.
The only other recommendation with impact on IE is the next-to-last.
Again, we have been working closely with the Office of Nuclear Regulatory Research in our ongoing efforts.

The principal policy issue appears to be the extent which the NRC should utilize fault-tree / event-tree analysis techniques as a substitute or supplement to deterministic safety analysis.
