Met Lab, Incorporated her<sby applies for an exemption to the Regulatory Requiremeat in 71.137 which states that Audits be performed by "personnel not having direct responsibilities in the areas being Audited".
This Requirement has been specifically incorporated into Condition 3
of the Quality Assurance Program Approval No. 0448, 3.
Our Program is quite small and everyone including myself has a
direct responsibility in one or more areas involving the Packaging, Shipping or Transporting of Radioactive Materials. Therefore we would be unable to conduct periodic Audits or Re-Audits when circumstances require it.
The basic concept for this Quality Assurance concept has evolved from 10 CFR 50 programs which are sufficiently large to allow conpletely independent Auditors.

We do not feel that an exemption in this instance will endanger life or property or the common defense and security.
