PURPOSE:

Discuss two analytical' methods used to predict the thrust required to overcome pressure locking in flexible-wedge gate valves, validation testing of those methods, and the results of pressure locking tests sponsored by the NRC Office of Nuclear Regulatory Research (NRR) conducted by Idaho National Engineering Laboratory to assist NRR in the review of licensee submittals in response to Generic Letter 95-07, " Pressure Locking and Thermal Binding of Safety-Related Power-0perated Gate Valves".
